As I work through Book 3, I decided to go back and re-render some early scenes to add more animations. Some of these are sexy, some just profile introductions the first time you meet a character.

Most of them are little snippets like this (this is played the first time you meet Katie, day 2), while others become more explicit or involved.

This one was probably the most involved; a mix of Daz (character), Blender (glass and liquid simulation) and after effects (compositing and refeaction). It's played during the Last of the First sequence in the later parts of Book 1.

I'm now working on the last act of Love of Magic; Act XVI: Eternal Sunshine. Once that's done the game is finally complete, after 4 years of work.

So. What's next?

I have two chunks of work planned. The first is Morningstar, a new Urban Fantasy story set in New York. A young MMA fighter's life changes drastically when one day he meets an angel.

Morningstar Act I is now complete, and I'm putting it up on Itch.io today, with a 30% launch discount. This includes the first 16 days worth of ingame content (~2 hours worth) and another hour or two of additional content. Like with Love of Magic I'll keep updating the project every time a new Act is complete. If you're still curious, you can check out the first devlog here.

The other thing I'll be working on is a New Game+ mode. There's obviously a lot of Persona 4/5 inspiration in Love of Magic (and in Morningstar), and one thing I loved is the New Game+ mode, where you start at the beginning, loading the end of game savegame. This would unlock your gems, give you decent starter stats and cash, but also unlock new events that only make sense in the context of having played the full game. 

This also lets me bring over improvements added over the course of the game, like the experimental rollback functionality I added to the recent beta (this will go live on itch.io when Act XVI is complete; hopefully the bugs are beaten out of it by that time) :)
