Book 2 story complete

For those of you playing using the Steam key you can redeem with your purchase, Book 2 is now story complete (meaning all the events that trigger on Day X are done, if you opt into the Development branch. I've still got smaller stuff left; some quests to finish writing, some more kingdom events, and some Elsewhere stuff.  Finally I need to do the metagame stuff (collectibles card-backs, achievements, etc). But the game is now playable from beginning to end for the first time.

This wasn't quite as planned. I was *going* to finish up some Elsewhere stuff first, more enemies, a new character wandering the paths you could buy unique gems from, and some balance issues.

I've been a fan (and Patreon) of the musician and composer Karliene for a long time; she's got a lovely, haunting voice and a fascination with geek culture, video games, mythology and fantasy. There was especially one song that I loved a lot.

I reached out to ask her if I could use the soundtrack in Love of Magic, and she kindly agreed... It's hard to over-state how thrilled I was about that. So I wanted to jump ahead a little, render out the cutscene where I use it, and showcase it for her. Except once I did that... it refused to let me go. The next 3 weeks are kinda a blur, but once I started I kept going, and Act XI is now ... done. Never had my own creation hijack me like that before, but I hope you all like it.

Book 2's story is now complete; I'll upload a new build here once I fix the last couple of issues, and with that... it's time to start Book 3,  the final part of the Love of Magic trilogy. The Return.

Thanks for coming along for this journey, and hope you like it.

It's going to be a little bitter sweet to see Love of Magic end. Any ideas on another project?

A thousand :)

All I'm sure of is that I don't want to make this into an eternity game; I know the final scene of the game, and after that the characters will live happily ever after. Too many great fantasy series have been spoiled by overstaying their welcome :)

Have you thought of a spin off story of say a particular character in the story or group of characters, or particular sect mentioned in the story? Not now, but in the future if you have another project your working on or you just want to step away for a bit, let this story settle in for awhile and maybe come back later with a group of short stories that interconnect somehow, one chapter about one character, leading into another, then another, creating a book of shorts stories sort of weaved together, even if it isn't directly related to this story. Just food for thought. Thank you for all your wonderful work, I have a strong feeling no matter the genre this game will be  a popular game for a long time to come.

Congratulations on completing the story for Book 2.

I know you had issues with the size of the install for Android, how is that looking now?

Worse :) The final days have hundreds of MB worth of animations, and those don't currently go into external files. I need to go back and redesign some stuff to get it to work properly.

Fingers crossed for you. Sounds like its going to take a lot of work.
